The Myth That Municipal Elections Are Non-Partisan
This is a myth that has greatly harmed the Republican party in Municipal elections for a long time. It is a myth that Democrats have known all along is a myth but many Republicans have bought into it. It is a key reason that Democrats have taken over many of our city councils. There is no such thing as a non-partisan election because everyone has a political bent in their philosophy. Notice on the newscasts that cities are often referred to as either Democrat or Republican controlled cities. If Municipal elections were non-partisan, then why are cities referred to in that manner? Republicans had better learn this election soon or the party will not control any of our cities.

Dear Friends, This week, my colleagues and I on the House Judiciary Committee issued a subpoena to former Biden Special Counsel Jack Smith.
Jack Smith led a politically motivated prosecution against President Trump. He tarnished our Department of Justice. He destroyed public trust in our government. We want answers. Jack Smith is not above the law. The American people deserve transparency, accountability, and the truth. He must appear before the House Judiciary Committee and answer every question, every detail, without exception. |
I am proud to lead this charge with the Committee to expose corruption and restore the integrity of our judicial system. |
Sincerely,

Special Session Coming to an End
But the Texas Senate Is Still Working for You
The end of the First Called Special Session of 2025 is in sight, but the Texas Senate did its job by passing all 16 items on the Governor’s list. Unfortunately, House Democrats fled the state, leaving their duties, families, and constituents in the lurch. The Senate remained in the Capitol, committed to delivering results for Texans.
Texans expect their elected legislators to get the job done—and that is exactly what the Senate did. I came back to Austin because our work is not finished. Whether it is cutting your property taxes, protecting the unborn, or making sure we are better prepared for the next extreme weather event, I will never stop fighting for you and your family.
To that end, I am proud to report that we in the Senate moved to pass a bold slate of legislation focused on safety, smart policy and investments, and accountability.

Building a Stronger Texas
Last month, I was honored to join the Texas Taxpayers and Research Association (TTARA) for their 2025 Annual Meeting in Austin in November. TTARA has been a respected leader in tax and fiscal policy for decades, and it was energizing to be with so many business, local government, and policy leaders who care deeply about keeping Texas competitive and fiscally strong.
I spoke in a session titled “Data Processing and Other Vexing Tax Issues with Representative Button.” We had a candid conversation about how Texas can modernize our Tax Code to reflect today’s economy while still protecting the state’s revenue base and providing predictability for taxpayers. Drawing on my work as Chair of the House Committee on Trade, Workforce & Economic Development and as a member of the Ways & Means Committee, I highlighted the need to balance innovation and investment with a fair, stable, and transparent tax structure.
While in Austin, I also attended the Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute’s Education Policy Summit, where legislators, educators, policy experts, and community leaders gathered to discuss the future of public education in Texas. The conversations were thoughtful, forward-looking, and grounded in a shared commitment to ensuring that every Texas student has access to a high-quality education.
Throughout the summit, we explored several key issues shaping today’s education landscape, including teacher workforce challenges, school finance, parental engagement, academic accountability, and the role of innovation in strengthening student outcomes. I appreciated the chance to hear from stakeholders representing schools of all sizes and regions, each offering valuable insight into what policies are working and where we still face gaps.
Events like this are essential to good policymaking. They provide a forum to ask hard questions, learn from practitioners, and evaluate how proposed reforms affect Texans. I returned to the district encouraged by the constructive dialogue and more determined than ever to keep working on policies that promote excellence across Texas and ensure our state remains a place where businesses want to invest, and families can thrive.
Around the District
It is that time of year when we celebrate family, giving, and community! Darcy and I were blessed to have our son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren visit for the Thanksgiving holiday. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to serve our community as your State Representative.
I had a wonderful evening in Richardson at the 2025 Boards and Commission Appreciation Dinner, where dedicated community members who generously serve Richardson were recognized and celebrated. It was an honor to meet with the Texas Legislative Action Committee of the Community Associations and be awarded their 2025 Hero award for my work during the 89th legislative session.
Even with these cooler temperatures, I can’t stay away from the amazing holiday events hosted by our cities. This week, I joined in the parade at Sachse’s Christmas Extravaganza and the ceremony to light the tree at Garland’s Christmas on the Square. I am looking forward to visiting with everyone at tonight’s Sunnyvale Christmas tree lighting. On Saturday, I’ll start the morning at the Richardson Christmas parade and end the night at the Rowlett Holiday parade. If you can attend the holiday events this weekend, please be sure to say hello.
Sincerely,

Editors Note:
Angie is a very nice lady whom you can warm up to very easily. I doubt you could find a better friend.
That being said, if you are a conservative, she is not going to represent you well in the Texas House. She is however going to do a better job than anyone the Democrats will run against her. Personally, just about every time I ask her to represent me as a conservative on important issues, she will vote the other way.
It looks like she is more interested in getting re-elected by cuddling up with the money broker elites in the "uniparty" than she is in representing her base. Some refer to GOP representatives who engage in this type of conduct as RINO Republicans (Republicans in Name Only). Until we can get a conservative elected to represent us on the Republican side, we have to settle for backing her in the general elections. As someone who would much prefer to have a conservative represent us in our district, I am calling for anyone who is a conservative and will listen to and represent their base, to step up and run against her in the next Primary.

To Unite Our City, D E I had to D I E.
Great job by the majority of our city council members who on May 7th. The council members who brought an end to this commission should be praised for helping the city get past the very divisive and destructive agenda DEI brought to our city.
DEI has been turning into just another liberal smoke and mirrors campaign where advocates claim the objective is for advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. In practice a more accurate meaning of DEI could be Division, Evil, and Insanity.
The "D" focuses on what divides us rather than on what unites us.
The "E" represents Equity which is about equal outcome rather than equal opportunity.
The "I" is all about advancing people based on things other than merit and is the enforcement arm of Diversity.
-Steve McDaniel, Precinct 3967 Chairman
